Canfora Medicine Guide is an independent website that explains everyday medicines in plain language: how they work, how to take them, which combinations are safe, and when a question belongs with your doctor or pharmacist.
What the guide covers
The site is organised into nine guides, each with in-depth articles that answer one specific question:
- Pain relief: paracetamol, ibuprofen, aspirin, diclofenac and their brands.
- Combining medicines: interactions, duplicate ingredients and alcohol.
- Taking medicines correctly: splitting tablets, missed doses, expiry and storage.
- Medicines and surgery: what to stop, take and ask.
- Stomach and gut medicines, skin treatments, diabetes care and vitamins and supplements.
- Clinical pharmacy notes: practical references for nurses, pharmacists and students.
Many readers come from Australia, the UK and the US, so articles name the brands used in each country (for example Panadol, Calpol and Tylenol for paracetamol) and point out where rules differ.
Who writes the guide
Canfora Medicine Guide is written and maintained by Dr. Ema Hudson. Every article shows the date it was last updated and lists the sources it relies on, so you can check the facts for yourself.
How articles are written
Articles are based on official product information (such as prescribing information and patient leaflets), national health services and regulators (NHS, Healthdirect, the TGA, the FDA, the MHRA) and published clinical guidelines and research. Each article answers the reader’s question first, then gives the detail: doses, tables, named products, safety warnings and when to seek help. Our editorial policy explains the process, how we update articles and how to report a mistake.
What this site is not
farmaciacanfora.com is not a pharmacy. Despite the domain name, we don’t sell, dispense or deliver medicines, we don’t issue prescriptions and we can’t give personal medical advice. (“Canfora” is the Italian word for camphor.) For advice about your own health, speak to your doctor or pharmacist. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
A note on the site’s history
The site was relaunched in October 2026 as Canfora Medicine Guide. Earlier, shorter articles were retired or merged into the current guides, and the remaining articles were rewritten from scratch with sources and update dates. If you followed an old link, you’ll usually land on the guide that now covers that topic.
How the site is funded
The site is free to read and is funded by advertising. Advertising is shown in marked areas and is kept separate from the articles. We don’t sell medicines or earn commission from the products we mention.
Contact
Corrections, questions about an article and general feedback are welcome through the contact page. Please don’t send personal health details; we can’t answer individual medical questions.
